LSVT BIG

The Cantrell Center for Physical Therapy in Warner Robins helps Patients with Parkinson’s disease in a “BIG” Way

The Cantrell Center is pleased to bring LSVT BIG® treatment to outpatient physical therapy.  Cantrell Center Licensed Physical Therapist, Keely Pratt, DPT, is now certified to administer LSVT BIG treatment which helps patients with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions.  The treatment consists of four 60 minute sessions over 4 weeks.  Keely received her certification to administer LSVT BIG treatment after completing extensive coursework and training.  We are already seeing a big difference in our Parkinson’s patients.

LSVT BIG treatment uses exaggerated movements and vocalizations in a unique way that improves amplitude and overall movement for those living with Parkinson’s disease.  The Cantrell Center is home to the only LSVT BIG certified physical therapist in a private practice outpatient rehabilitation center in Middle Georgia.  We have been serving Middle Georgia for over 28 years and are located at 405 Osigian Blvd.

We recommend starting LSVT BIG treatment as soon as possible.  However, it’s never too late– you can get started right now!

“BIG” Results

Research on LSVT BIG has documented improved ratings on tests of motor functioning in people with Parkinson’s disease following treatment including:

  • Faster walking with bigger steps
  • Improved balance
  • Increased trunk rotation
  • Improvements in activities of daily living such as bed mobility, getting in/out of car, and other functional measures
  • Improved Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) Motor Score

What Patients Are Saying

Don’t just take our word on the benefits of the LSVT BIG program; listen to what a patient, Tom Cooper, recently had to say about his experience:

“I’ve always been impressed with the Cantrell Center’s professionalism, their kind and courteous treatment.  They seem to have a mindset of what could be better, never quite satisfied, always a little bit on that hungry side.  I feel fortunate that this facility is here and all the people that help make it happen. Keely is a very dedicated person, her enthusiasm has a way of carrying you.  You can’t help, but get caught with it- it’s sort of like a big wave coming at you.

The overall LSVT BIG program improves you head to toe in a sense.  I would say the sooner you can get started, the better.  There is no need to wait. The only time we have is now, and right now, I’m a Cantrell person. This is the best that I know of.  I have no other place that I would go to.  I wish I had known about this sooner, I could have had life a little better and been a little more active, but just take what comes and try to get optimal utilization from what you’re participating in and certainly the LSVT BIG program does that.  To anybody in range of my voice, I say, “Yes, check it out.  See what it can do for you!”.

About Keely

Keely Pratt was born and raised just outside of Savannah, GA in the small town of Guyton.  She married her high school sweetheart and together, they relocated to Warner Robins, Georgia in the spring of 2018.

She was introduced to the world of physical therapy when she landed a job in college as an Aide at a physical therapy clinic.  She remembers immediately deciding, after being around the therapists there and seeing the amazing recoveries of patients she was working with, that she, herself, wanted to be a PT one day!  It was working for that clinic as a PT aide that she fell in love with the profession.

Keely graduated from Armstrong State University in 2013 with a degree Rehabilitation Science, and after working a few more years, decided it was time to further her education to finally become a physical therapist.

She and her husband moved up to Fishersville, VA in 2015 where she pursued a degree of Doctor of Physical Therapy at Mary Baldwin University.  Even though she’s only been with the Cantrell Center since 2018, she said early on in her time here, “It has become so evident to me there’s nowhere else I’d rather be! Between the coworkers, amazing patients I work with and the overall atmosphere, this place really feels like “home” and I feel privileged to work at such a great facility.  My passion as a physical therapist is working with spine pathologies, headaches, chronic pain, surgical/non-surgical injuries, and fall prevention.  There is no better feeling than witnessing and having a part in the recovery process and I’m excited to be part of such an amazing profession and the stellar team here at the Cantrell Center!”
