Have you been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia? Have you tried other various methods of treatment such as exercise, change of diet, and various medicines, but nothing has changed? Maybe we can help!
Fibromyalgia is thought to be caused by overactive nerves that can cause you to be in constant pain. However, some newer research cited by The Postural Restoration Institute suggests the underlying cause could be related to postural deficits. These postural deficits can sometimes affect the way we breathe; consequently altered breathing habits can change our bodies chemistry. This change in body chemistry can present as constant fatigue and weakness, irritable bowel issues, or hands and feet that are constantly cold.
This is where we at the Cantrell Center can help. We specialize in a type of therapy called Postural Restoration. Postural restoration deals with the natural imbalances or postural deficits in the body. Here at the Cantrell Center, we have several therapists who are trained in ways to identify and ultimately correct these deficits.
If you have tried other treatments to no avail and have an open mind to rather unconventional treatments, give us a call at (478)953-3535 today for more information regarding postural restoration therapy or to set up an evaluation.
About the Author
Ken Smith, PTA, grew up in Albany, GA and joined the Cantrell Center’s team of expert clinicians in March of 2014. Outside of work, Ken enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He and his wife, Jana, reside in Cordele and have been married for 5 years. Jana teaches first grade special education. Together, they’re expecting their first child, a baby boy, in June. When asked what drew him to a career in physical therapy, he said “My cerebral palsy is a main reason I fell in love with physical therapy.” Ken was born with cerebral palsy and he feels he can connect with patients during physical therapy because he has spent a lot of time as a patient.
