Janet Cooley, VPA
Vice President of Administration

I joined the Cantrell Center in March 1997.   I came with twelve years of banking experience and seven years experience in group health medical claims at Aetna Health Plans.  I was forced to make a career change when the Macon Aetna office closed in 1997.  I answered The Cantrell’s “blind” classified ad and the rest is history.   I knew immediately during my interview that this was where I wanted to work.   What was I thinking?? !! ??  This job has been fulfilling, overwhelming, exciting, motivating….just to name a few.

I was hired to be the “Patient Accounts Coordinator”.  I loved working with patients and the challenge of billing and appealing insurance companies.   After 6 months, I became the office manager.  We had 3 office staff when I started here.  Boy, have things changed, and it hasn’t slowed down yet.  I’ve done everything except “treat” patients, and they won’t let me do that!

My husband Mark teaches 6th grade Social Studies at Perry Middle School and has been there since 2004.  He coached basketball and baseball for a few years but looking forward to retirement in the next year or so.  We love spending time with our grandchildren but also love spending time together – just the two of us!

I couldn’t ask for a better working family.  Working at the Cantrell Center has been very fulfilling and I cannot imagine working anywhere else.  We have the best staff that anyone could ever hope for!
